SENIOR PRODUCT DEVELOPER | OCCASION WEAR
The Company - Our client is a Melbourne based Design house. With a strong focus on silhouettes and sensual draping, each collection is designer to capture the essence of the female.
Purpose - As a key member of the Design team, your key objective is to support the Creative Director to develop products using the corporate NPD process, ensuring expectations are met in terms of construction, quality and value.
The Role -
Pre-season development of fabric / trim sourcing and cost indications
Ensure tech packs are done to a high standard each season
Seek and identify new/key suppliers for product costing in line with sourcing strategy
Attend briefings and fit meetings ensuring fabrics qualities and trims and styling details are documented and communicated
Ensure all stake holders at the handover session are aware and are working to the agreed timeline.
Analyse and negotiate prices with suppliers, ensuring margin targets
Organise for new fabrics and techniques to be tested and trialed
Ensure smooth on time processing of Lab dips, fabric and trim approval and any other matters that need to be processed as required
Review fit samples to ensure product requirements are met
Build sound and lasting partnerships with strategic suppliers
Ensure all communication and problem resolving discussions support and display the company values – focusing on what is best for the company and for long term supplier relationships.
Ownership of Critical Path (CP) Maintenance
Maintain an up to date knowledge of the status of all products communicating to relevant stake holders any impending delays presenting possible solutions to minimise disruption or financial losses.
Work closely with the Design team throughout the pre-production period to raise awareness of critical path and priorities for processing.
Data input and maintenance of Range Build
Daily maintenance of product files
Manage season deadlines, liaising with all stakeholders to ensure timely manner
Maintain close relationships with supply value chain & vendors, in all aspects related to brand, and product expectations
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant Tertiary Qualification
Experience as a product developer is essential
A strong eye for detail
Knowledge of fabrics
Knowledge of pattern making
Experience in negotiation
Knowledge of garment construction and costs to support engineering of product into price
Proven problem-solving ability with good analytical skills
Excellent communication and proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
Strong organisation skills and time management
Dedication and ability to work under pressure and deadlines
Timeline focused
Set weekly goals and achieve them
Works well within small teams
